Super Perigee Moon
March 21, 2011
March 19, 2010: a super "perigee moon"-- super full moon--the biggest in almost 20 years! Wow, what an opportunity. Cameras out, assorted lenses at the ready, tripod set up. Waited with bated breath (and a glass of wine) for
The clouds to roll in

From the side of a rather large fireworks fountain. I mean, really, if you don't have sense enough to not hold it in your hand or not get out of the way, wouldn't you also not have the sense to read the warnings? More contributions from the Legal segment of our society!
The Other Side of Fort Lauderdale
March 13, 2011
Think of Fort Lauderdale and think of beautiful beaches, the breadth of the ocean, lean tan lovelies in skimpy bathing suits, tall drinks with small paper umbrellas, beautiful cruise ships and the free life on the beach (at least as long as the vacation lasts).
But, as with any city, most parts of town have folks that work, that get up every morning and head off to another day. And there are hotels that meet that need. Thus the Hampton Inn on Commercial in Tamarac (an outskirt of Fort Lauderdale). No beach, no bar, no glorious restaurants in walking distance but it is close to work and the interstate and is (as much as anything is in this tourist town) relatively inexpensive.
Start of another work day
The back of the hotel... no beaches
And just to prove we don't stay in "no junky place," there was a Bentley (very expensive) parked in the hotel lot one morning
